How to build a useful SEO content brief
Define intent, scope, original evidence and a practical outline before drafting an article. Use AI to organize work while keeping research and facts visible.

Separate search evidence from assumptions
A query suggests a reader need, but an AI-generated brief does not establish current keyword volume or difficulty. Review current results, your Search Console data and customer questions. Write down what you observed and what remains a hypothesis.
For “how to photograph ceramic mugs for Etsy”, readers likely need a practical setup and useful angles. Check that assumption against results and real sellers. Do not make the article longer simply because another page has many headings.
Decide what you can contribute
Useful content needs more than reorganized text. Photograph the setup you actually use, compare angles on the same mug, or explain a mistake you encountered. Include the conditions and limitations of the example.
List evidence to gather before drafting: product care instructions, source links, original photos or verified measurements. Missing evidence should remain a task for the writer rather than a request for AI to invent supporting detail.
Write an outline with a clear answer
Begin with the direct answer, then explain the steps, worked example and common mistakes. Each heading should have a job. A practical mug-photography outline could cover window placement, softening shadows, backgrounds, handle/interior shots and checking color.
State what the article does not cover when that helps the reader. Advanced studio lighting may deserve a separate guide. Link to a related tool only where it helps with a task the article has introduced.
Review the published page
After editing the draft, check title, description, canonical URL, indexing rules and internal links in the rendered page. Add accurate alt text to real images. Include the page in your sitemap and give it relevant links from the topic hub.
AI search visibility follows the same useful-content and technical foundations as search visibility. There is no special schema or machine-readable file that guarantees inclusion in AI answers. Monitor impressions, clicks and useful downstream actions rather than treating generated page count as a success metric.
